The Laird Single Vineyard Shiraz

From a single vineyard in Marananga, one of the most renowned sub-regions of the Barossa Valley, comes this Shiraz with a concentration rarely found: dark plum, blackberry, and black olive, underpinned by anise, caraway, and a striking earthiness that makes the soil palpable.

Torbreck Vintners was founded in 1994 with a clear goal: to create wines in the style of the Rhône appellation that express the Barossa Valley in its deepest form. No randomness — the winery invested specifically in historic sites, some of whose vines date back to 1840. The "The Laird" vineyard in Marananga is one of these exceptional parcels and gives this single-vineyard Shiraz its name. Since 2013, Pete Kight has led the winery, together with chief oenologist Ian Hongell and a team that views the claim that the best Torbreck wines have yet to be made as their daily working basis.

On the palate, the wine shows enormous expressiveness: full-bodied, dense structure, ripe tannins with grip, a long finish with spicy and earthy notes. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb with rosemary, braised beef, or a strong hard cheese like aged cheddar.
