Teuto Toscana IGT
The Teuto from Tenuta Podernovo shows what Tuscany can do beyond the big names: a structured red wine with real depth, matured for 18 months in large wooden barrels.
Tenuta Podernovo is located in Tuscany and follows a classic winemaking philosophy: slow aging in large wooden casks instead of dominant new oak. This allows the fruit to remain in the foreground, while the wood merely provides the framework.
In the glass, the Teuto wine opens with aromas of cherry, plum, and blackberry, complemented by violet and a subtle spiciness. On the palate, it is round and warm, with elegantly integrated tannins and a finish that lingers for several seconds.
- Dishes: Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar salami or mature Pecorino cheese
- Temperature: 16–18 °C
- Occasion: Dinner with friends or a relaxed evening without much fuss
Tenuta Podernovo lies on a gentle rise in Terricciola – amidst the rolling hills around Pisa, where the Etruscans already cultivated wine. The sandy soils with their fossil deposits create a microclimate here that makes elegance almost inevitable.
The focus is on Sangiovese : The Teuto matures for 20 months in large wooden barrels, showcasing the true potential of this region. The Aliotto complements it with Cabernet and Merlot, while the Auritea , a pure Cabernet Franc, completes the collection. All three share a fine tannin structure and a lingering finish.
