Aliotto Toscana Rosso
Tenuta Podernovo – the name represents one of the most exciting new ventures in Tuscany. The Lunelli family, established for generations in Italian winemaking with their traditional Ferrari Trento estate, acquired this property in the municipality of Terricciola as their first winery outside of Trentino. Nestled amidst the rolling hills of Pisane, the estate covers more than 80 hectares, 40 of which are planted with vineyards, primarily Sangiovese (50%). Operating with a strong commitment to sustainability, Tenuta Podernovo has been certified organic for several years.
The Aliotto showcases the potential of the hills surrounding Pisa. In the glass, it shines with a rich, deep ruby red color. On the nose, it opens with ripe aromas of dark cherry, plum, and a hint of violet, underpinned by delicate balsamic and mineral notes. On the palate, it confirms this impression: velvety, ripe tannins, a vibrant structure, and a long, balanced finish. Twelve months of aging in barriques lend it depth without masking its fruitiness.
A wine for the table: Ideal with game dishes, aged pecorino or braised beef – and for all those who want to discover Tuscan elegance off the beaten track.
Tenuta Podernovo lies on a gentle rise in Terricciola – amidst the rolling hills around Pisa, where the Etruscans already cultivated wine. The sandy soils with their fossil deposits create a microclimate here that makes elegance almost inevitable.
The focus is on Sangiovese : The Teuto matures for 20 months in large wooden barrels, showcasing the true potential of this region. The Aliotto complements it with Cabernet and Merlot, while the Auritea , a pure Cabernet Franc, completes the collection. All three share a fine tannin structure and a lingering finish.
