Spieheimer Osterberg Trockenbeerenauslese Riesling 0.375L

A Trockenbeerenauslese from Rheinhessen: sweet and honey-like, carried by an invigorating acidity. It belongs in a small glass, and the half-bottle with 0.375 liters is enough for a long evening.

The Riesling comes from the Spieheimer Osterberg and was harvested by hand by Jung & Knobloch late in the autumn. Only individual, raisin-like shriveled, botrytized berries were selected. After 15 hours of maceration, the grapes were pressed slowly and gently, after which the must fermented for several months into the new year. Such quality is rarely achieved.

In the glass, honey, dried apricot, and orange peel appear. The texture is almost oily and carries the high sweetness without being sticky. The acidity keeps the wine in tension and draws out the finish.

Serve it at 8–10 °C with blue cheese, foie gras, or an apricot tart. You can also drink it alone as a dessert.
