Sileno Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva

Sardinia's best-known red wine grape variety Cannonau – genetically identical to Grenache – shows its stronger, Mediterranean side here: dark-fruited, warm, with substance on the palate.

Ferruccio Deiana has been relying on this autochthonous grape in the hinterland of the Cagliari province for decades. The winery is one of the reliable addresses for Sardinian wine with international aspirations – which the ratings from Decanter (92 points) and Veronelli (93 points) confirm.

The Sileno ages for 10 months in oak barrels. In the glass, it shows blackberry, dark cherry, and dried fig, underscored by roasted aromas, cinnamon, and a hint of licorice. The palate is full-bodied, the tannins well-integrated due to the aging, the finish warm and persistent with a spicy herbal note.
