San Salvagio Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG

San Salvagio Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of the classic red wine addresses of Tuscany — and the Riserva from Tenuta San Salvagio shows why this DOCG has been setting standards for centuries.
The Tenuta San Salvagio cultivates sites around Montepulciano in southern Tuscany, where the Sangiovese gets a special expression under the local name Prugnolo Gentile: more structure, more depth, more aging potential than in many other parts of the region. As a Riserva, this wine undergoes an extended aging period — beyond the already prescribed two years — before it comes to market.
In the glass, it shows dark cherry and blackberry, underlaid by leather, dry herbs, and a hint of tobacco. The tannins are present but well-integrated; the acidity gives the wine backbone and length. The finish is warm and lingering.
- Food: Florentine Bistecca, wild boar goulash, aged Pecorino di Pienza
- Temperature: 17–18 °C, ideally decant one hour before drinking

San Salvagio lies near Siena, within the historic walls of Montepulciano in Tuscany. The cellar of the San Salvagio estate was built entirely from materials salvaged from old Tuscan farmhouses. On approximately 10 hectares of land, the vineyards of Pietrose, Spinella, and Colombelle, primarily planted with Sangiovese, favor the production of top-quality wines, thanks to the unique soil composition, the favorable vineyard location, and the special microclimate. All of this is the result of Luciano Scaccini's passion and unwavering dedication. All of this leads us to say: San Salvagio red wines from Montepulciano!
