Rust en Vrede Syrah

Rust-en-Vrede's Syrah is a deep, dark, dry, intense, powerful, and long-aging estate red wine from the Cape. The history of the Rust-en-Vrede Estate dates back to 1694. The winery and its historic buildings were acquired in 1978 by the current owner, former rugby star Jannie Engelbrecht, and transformed into a modern winery. Rust-en-Vrede Estate specializes in producing wines from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot grape varieties. Today, the estate is among the top red wine producers in the Cape. Wine Spectator awarded it 92 points for the 2014 vintage, and John Platter gave it 4.5 stars (outstanding) for the 2014 vintage.

Rust-en-Vrede

Jean Engelbrecht and his father Jannie (former rugby idol) have made Rust en Vrede the top winery for South African red wines. A listed pearl of Cape Dutch architecture and a winery celebrated by wine critics from all over the world.

A very special honor was bestowed upon Rust en Vrede in 1993 when, on the occasion of the Nobel Peace Prize award to Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk, a wine from their cellar was served on an international stage and in a highly official setting. You too should try these extraordinary wines.
