Rust and Vrede Cabernet Sauvignon

The history of Rust-en-Vrede Estate dates back to 1694. The vineyard and its historic buildings were acquired in 1978 by the current owner, former rugby star Jannie Engelbrecht, and transformed into a modern winery. Rust-en-Vrede Estate specializes in producing wines from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot grape varieties. Today, the estate is among the top red wine producers in the Cape. Wine Spectator awarded it 91 points and named it one of the "Top 100 Wines of the World" for the fifth consecutive year! John Platter gave it 4.5 stars (outstanding) for the 2012 vintage.

Rust-en-Vrede

Jean Engelbrecht and his father Jannie (a former rugby idol) have made Rust en Vrede the top winery for South African red wines. A heritage-protected pearl of Cape Dutch architecture and a winery celebrated by wine critics from all over the world. A very special honor was bestowed upon Rust en Vrede in 1993 when, on the occasion of the Nobel Peace Prize award to Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk, a wine from their cellar was served on an international stage and in a highly official setting. You, too, should try these extraordinary wines.
