Rust and Vrede Cabernet Sauvignon

The history of Rust-en-Vrede Estate dates back to 1694. The vineyard and its historic buildings were acquired in 1978 by the current owner, former rugby star Jannie Engelbrecht, and transformed into a modern winery. Rust-en-Vrede Estate specializes in producing wines from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot grape varieties. Today, the estate is among the top red wine producers in the Cape. Wine Spectator awarded it 91 points and named it one of the "Top 100 Wines of the World" for the fifth consecutive year! John Platter gave it 4.5 stars (outstanding) for the 2012 vintage.

Rust-en-Vrede

Jean Engelbrecht and his father Jannie (a former rugby idol) have transformed Rust en Vrede into the premier South African red wine estate. A listed gem of Cape Dutch architecture, it's a winery acclaimed by wine critics worldwide. Rust en Vrede received a particularly special honor in 1993 when a wine from their cellar was served at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk, a highly official event on the international stage. Come and experience these exceptional wines for yourself.
