Rust en Vrede Estate

Wine has been cultivated at the Cape since 1659. In an almost ideal climate, wines thrive on the sunny slopes and in the fertile valleys of the Cape region, produced and cared for in the tradition of European winemakers. The history of Rust-en-Vrede Estate can be traced back to 1694. The winery and its historic buildings were acquired in 1978 by the current owner and former rugby professional Jannie Engelbrecht and completely restored. Today, Rust-en-Vrede Estate is not only a listed gem of Cape Dutch architecture, but above all, South Africa's leading red wine estate! In the heart of the prestigious Stellenbosch wine region, wines of absolute top quality are produced. Critics from all over the world praise the wines, including the renowned WINE SPECTATOR, which has repeatedly selected the ReV Estate Blend – the estate's flagship wine – as one of the "Top 100 Wines in the World" for the fourth consecutive year. A very special honor was bestowed upon the Rust-en-Vrede team in 1993 when a top wine from their cellar was served at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk, a prestigious event on the international stage. Veritas Award: Gold Medal; Wine Spectator 2015: 94 points – "Top 100 Wines of the World" for the fifth consecutive year! John Platter: 4.5 stars

Rust-en-Vrede

Jean Engelbrecht and his father Jannie (a former rugby idol) have made Rust en Vrede the top winery for South African red wines. A heritage-protected pearl of Cape Dutch architecture and a winery celebrated by wine critics from all over the world. A very special honor was bestowed upon Rust en Vrede in 1993 when, on the occasion of the Nobel Peace Prize award to Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk, a wine from their cellar was served on an international stage and in a highly official setting. You, too, should try these extraordinary wines.
