Romate Iberia Cream Reserva Especial

This Cream Sherry from the house of Sanchez Romate is not a light dessert wine, but a mature, multi-layered sweet wine with real depth. The base is an Amontillado, to which 20% Pedro Ximénez is added — the result is a harmonious sweetness carried by nutty complexity.

Sanchez Romate is one of the oldest bodegas in Jerez de la Frontera. Founded in 1781 by Juan Sánchez de la Torre, the house is still family-owned today. The bodega cultivates its own vineyards with some very old vines and can draw on solera stocks that hardly any other winery possesses in this depth. The fact that the British House of Lords and the Vatican have counted Romate among their suppliers for over 100 years is not a marketing story, but a proven fact.

In the glass, the Iberia Cream Reserva Especial shows aromas of dates, dried figs and raisins, underpinned by liquorice and a distinctly nutty note — typical of the Amontillado character at its core. On the palate, the sweetness is present but not sticky; spice and dried fruits maintain the balance.

Best served at 10–12 °C — as an accompaniment to blue cheese, dark chocolate or roasted almonds. Also a harmonious conclusion pure after a meal.
