Ried Kirchweingarten Zweigelt QW Carnuntum 0.75L

Zweigelt is Austria's most widely grown red wine variety — and the Ried Kirchweingarten shows why Carnuntum is one of the most convincing addresses in the country for it. Gerhard Markowitsch is one of the winemakers who have consistently put this Pannonian region on the map: warm summers, continental climate, clay-rich soils that give the Zweigelt structure and depth.

In the glass, it shows a dry red wine with dark fruit — sour cherry, black cherry, a hint of blackberry — and a velvety tannin structure typical for Zweigelt. The acidity is present but integrated; the finish remains fresh with a slightly spicy note. Not a heavy, opulent wine, but one with a clear line and drinkability.

Pairs well with Wiener Schnitzel with cucumber salad, a hearty lentil stew, or grilled lamb chops with rosemary. It also cuts a fine figure with beef tripe or Tafelspitz. Drinking temperature: 16–17 °C. Those who serve it slightly cooler get the fruit even more precisely in the glass.
