Recas Selene Feteasca Neagra

Feteasca Neagra is Romania's most important indigenous red wine grape variety—dark-fruited, spicy, with a velvety texture that clearly distinguishes it from international varieties. Cramele Recas' Selene demonstrates what this grape variety is capable of when given time and care.

Cramele Recas in the Banat region of western Romania is one of the country's most modern wineries. What makes Selene special is that the grapes are harvested exclusively at night. Cooler harvest temperatures protect the aromas and ensure a fresher fermentation – an effort that is evident in the glass.

The color is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, floral notes—violets, dried rose—followed by dark plum, cranberry, and a light hint of spice. On the palate, it is soft, with rounded tannins and a fruit-driven, pleasantly long finish without any obtrusive heaviness.

Best served at 16–18 °C . Goes well with:

  • Braised lamb or beef goulash
  • Grilled eggplant with sheep's cheese
  • Mature hard cheeses like Manchego or Pecorino

An uncomplicated everyday red wine with its own character — ideal if you want to drink something other than Cabernet and Merlot.
