Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Recas, one of Romania's most exciting wine regions in western Banat. The history of the vineyards dates back to 1447, but the region experienced its true renaissance after 1991, when the Briton Philip Cox came here with a vision and transformed neglected sites into one of the most modern and successful wineries in Eastern Europe. What makes Recas wines so special is this vibrant blend of tradition and innovation. Approximately 39 million liters of wine are produced annually on around 1,200 hectares and 22 grape varieties. The international winemaking team around Hartley Smithers and Nora Iriarte, chosen as one of the 100 best winemakers in the world in 2020, gives each wine a distinctive signature. Here you will find an impressive range: from aromatic, indigenous varieties like Feteasca Neagră with its spicy character to elegantly interpreted international varieties like Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are known for their excellent price-to-quality ratio – powerful, fruity and full of southeastern European temperament.
