Raumland Blanc de Blancs Réserve Extra Brut German Winzersekt Réserve

A Blanc de Blancs with staying power: Raumland Réserve Extra Brut shows how much depth a German Winzersekt can develop if it takes its time. The cuvée from the 2014 vintage consists of 62% Pinot Gris and 38% Pinot Blanc.

The Raumland Sekthaus stands for Sekt made according to traditional bottle fermentation. Here, the wine matured on the lees for over 90 months, a portion of which was aged in wooden barrels. The result is an Extra Brut with plenty of structure and drive.

On the nose, quince, grapefruit, and nectarine meet nutty notes reminiscent of freshly baked bread. On the palate, the Sekt feels velvety and restrained; the perlage is fine, and the acidity carries it straight through to the long finish.

Serve it at 8 to 10 °C, for example as an aperitif, with scallops, fried zander, or with aged mountain cheese. It is also suitable as a companion for a festive menu.
