Pünderich Marienburg Riesling GG

The Marienburg in Pünderich is considered one of the great steep sites of the Mosel — and Clemens Busch is one of the winemakers who most consistently brings out its character.

The winery has been managed biodynamically by Clemens and Rita Busch since the 1980s, and has been Demeter-certified since 2005. The vines grow on Devonian slate, which stores the day's heat and releases it slowly at night — crucial for the aromatics and acid structure. Spontaneous fermentation and aging in wooden barrels are standard, and cellar interventions are reduced to a minimum.

In the glass, the Marienburg GG shows a clear citrus line: lemon zest, green apple, underneath a smoky-mineral undertone that is typical for the Pünderich slate. The wine has body and tension at the same time — the acidity carries without stinging, and the finish lingers long with a salty, almost flinty note.
