Picpoul de Pinet Cuvee Prestige
Picpoul de Pinet is the classic answer of the Languedoc coast to fresh white wine for a seafood evening — and the Cuvée Prestige from Les Vignobles Foncalieu shows what the Piquepoul Blanc grape variety can really do in its homeland.
The grapes grow in the Bassin de Thau , a coastal lagoon near Montpellier, where the Mediterranean climate and sea air directly influence the aroma profile. Les Vignobles Foncalieu is one of the leading winegrowers' cooperatives in the Languedoc and cultivates vineyards throughout the region—with a clear focus on single-varietal, terroir-driven wines.
In the glass, the Cuvée Prestige displays a luminous green-gold hue. The nose offers aromas of lemon zest, white grapefruit, and a hint of orange blossom—typical of Piquepoul Blanc, one of the most aromatically vibrant grape varieties of the South. On the palate, it boasts crisp acidity, a lean body, and a dry finish with a subtle saline note.
Recommendation: Serve well chilled at 8–10 °C. A classic pairing is oysters from the Thau Lagoon, mussels with white wine, or grilled sea bass. Also a great choice as an aperitif on warm evenings. Drink now—this wine thrives on its freshness.
Les Vignobles Foncalieu – this is Languedoc as it truly tastes. Since 1967, over 800 winegrowers have joined forces here to get the best from their terroirs. No individual egos, but a genuine community – with a clear goal: wines that honestly reflect their origin.
Whether it's a velvety Merlot, an aromatic Viognier, or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc – Foncalieu demonstrates the diversity of southern France. The wines are approachable, full of character, and crafted with a strong focus on sustainability. A sense of discovery is guaranteed.
