Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz

Peter Lehmann is a living legend, and not just since his winery was voted Australia's best producer at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2003 and 2006. The wines of the Ambassador Series are among the most highly acclaimed in the country. The grapes come from vines, some of them ancient, in those vineyards of the Barossa Valley that have always produced some of the most characterful and distinctive wines. Peter Lehmann calls the thick-skinned, small berries of these Shiraz vines, some over 100 years old, in the arid western part of the Barossa Valley, "small black jewels," from which he crafts his incredibly dense and complex Stonewell Shiraz. Aged for 18 months in French (3/4) and American oak (1/4) barriques, and then for a further 3 years in the bottle, this magnificent Shiraz is the finest wine from Peter Lehmann.
