Peter Lehmann Eight Songs Shiraz

Eight Songs is the name of this Shiraz, taken from the musical drama "Eight Songs for a Mad King" and a series of paintings of the same name about the English King George III. The grapes are selected from vineyards with extremely low yields in the northwest of the Barossa Valley, and the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels. It offers an intense bouquet of ripe fruit, bittersweet chocolate, and smoky notes, a rich fullness on the palate with delicious berry flavors, and an elegant structure with rounded tannins. Peter Lehmann Wines – a pioneer from the Barossa Valley. Founded in 1977 by Peter Lehmann and his wife Margaret, the winery is now among the best in Australia. 140 contract growers cultivate over 750 vineyards – including vines that are over 100 years old. On sandy to stony soils, in a warm, sunny climate, primarily Shiraz thrives, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Sémillon, and Chardonnay. Peter Lehmann passed away in 2013, and his son Doug continues the legacy. Awards: multiple "Best Wine Producer in Australia" awards and the Lifetime Achievement Award. An Australian wine legend.
