Pastis Henri Bardouin Grand Cru

There are many pastis — but hardly any with such an elaborate herbal portfolio as the Henri Bardouin Grand Cru from Forcalquier in Haute-Provence.

Over 65 herbs and spices form the base: some from the surrounding hills, others sourced through the historic spice merchants in the port of Marseille. This is evident in the glass: alongside the classic anise, a distinct peppery note, a slightly bitter finish, and a herbal complexity that surpasses simple pastis varieties.

When mixed with cold water in a 1:5 ratio, it turns a milky white color. Drink ice cold, with plenty of water. It pairs well with olives, anchovies, or Provençal charcuterie as an aperitif.

Distilleries et Domaines de Provence

Distilleries et Domaines de Provence has been distilling the soul of Provence into a bottle since 1898 – and you can feel it with the first sip.

In picturesque Forcalquier, high up in the Haute-Provence, thyme, wormwood, and verbena grow wild and untamed. Here, they are harvested by hand and distilled using traditional methods. The result: spirits that smell of garrigue, summer, and craftsmanship.
Their most famous creation is the Henri Bardouin – a Pastis Grand Cru that has garnered acclaim far beyond the borders of Provence. They also produce the botanical Gin XII , fruity aperitifs such as the peach wine Rinquinquin , and aromatic liqueurs like Farigoule .
