Pane Guttiau
Pane Guttiau is the toasted version of the Sardinian flatbread Carta di Musica – wafer-thin, crispy, and baked with olive oil until the surface is golden brown and aromatic. The result is a light, almost translucent crispbread with an intense roasted aroma and a subtle hint of salt.
It makes a great antipasto: with Pecorino Sardo, ricotta, olive tapenade, or air-dried ham. It also pairs well with robust Sardinian wines – a Cannonau with cherry and herbal notes or a mineral Vermentino di Gallura – because its flavor complements, rather than competes with, the wines. Serving temperature: room temperature.
