Muratie Martin Melck Cabernet Sauvignon

Powerful, with dark fruit aromas such as cassis, blackcurrants, and ripe plums. Often accompanied by spicy notes, tobacco, cedar, and a touch of smokiness. Fine tannin structure with good acidity, medium to full body supported by oak aging (usually some oak), which increases complexity and length. A characterful, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with pronounced fruit and well-integrated oak spice. Often neither too heavy nor too dry, frequently with sufficient richness for aging. Pairs well with grilled meats, beef tenderloin, lamb, spicy cheeses, and dark chocolate. Serving suggestion: Serve at approximately 16–18 °C; decanting is recommended for younger vintages to open up the tannins and release aromas. Murati Wine Estate

Muratie – one of South Africa's oldest wine estates, a listed heritage gem. An almost mystical place brimming with art treasures, boasting architecture from the founding era, nestled in the foothills of the Simonsberg near Stellenbosch. The soils surrounding the old farmhouse are among the best in the country for classic red wines. The Melck family has been at home here since the 17th century. Legendary among them is Martin Melck, who emigrated from East Prussia and founded the Lutheran Church in Cape Town. Ronnie Melck shaped the estate in the 20th century as a pioneer of South African winemaking. Today, his son, Dr. Rijk, carries on the legacy.
