Mitolo Jester Shiraz

Powerful fruit, polished structure and enough depth for everyday use — the Jester Shiraz from McLaren Vale is a reliable representative of the no-frills Australian Shiraz style.

Mitolo is one of the most prestigious wineries in McLaren Vale, south of Adelaide. The region is known for its old Shiraz vines growing on iron-rich clay soils, which produce dark berry fruit with a natural texture. The Jester is Mitolo's entry-level wine—deliberately approachable, yet expertly crafted.

In the glass, it reveals plum and blackberry at its core, underpinned by dark chocolate and a hint of cedar. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, the finish remains fruity with a slightly spicy note. Not a bulky, overly heavy blockbuster—but a well-rounded, easy-drinking red wine with a pleasant maturity.

Serving suggestion: Best served at 16–18 °C, ready to drink now. Pairs well with grilled lamb chops, pulled pork, spicy tomato sauce dishes, or a mature cheddar.

Mitolo Winery

Mitolo – strong and gentle. That's the motto the family brought with them from Abruzzo to Australia. They arrived in the 1950s, staying true to their roots: food, wine, family. In 1999, Frank Mitolo and winemaker Ben Glaetzer met. Five hours of discussion, a business plan scribbled on the back of a napkin. The goal: McLaren Vale in its purest form. The first wine, GAM, was named after Frank's children. Today, Mitolo works closely with the Loprestis – also Italian immigrants. Heavy clay soils, gentle sea breezes, hands-off in the cellar. Italian grape varieties, Italian heritage. And the motto: forte e gentile. Strong and gentle.
