Meerlust Rubicon WO Stellenbosch 1.5L

The Rubicon is the flagship of Meerlust: a powerful and at the same time finely drawn red wine from Stellenbosch, here in the 1.5-liter magnum, which provides conversation at the table.

The estate is located just a few kilometers from False Bay; cool sea breezes shape the climate. The 2022 vintage was created as a cuvée; the batches were vinified separately and subsequently matured for 18 months in barrique. The grape variety according to product data: Cabernet Franc.

In the nose, violets, black plum, blackberry, and cassis meet cedar wood, bouquet garni, and fine spice notes. On the palate, it is dry, with dark fruit, round tannins, and well-integrated oak. The structure remains precise, and the body has depth.

Recommendation: Rack of lamb with herb crust, braised beef cheek, or aged hard cheese. Serve it at 16 to 18 °C, preferably decanted beforehand. The magnum is suitable for large groups and festive days.

Meerlust Wine Estate

Meerlust Wine Estate – a name for wines you won't forget for over 250 years. Just 15 kilometers south of Stellenbosch, barely five kilometers from False Bay. The proximity to the sea brings cool breezes and coastal fog – the grapes ripen slowly, evenly, with real depth.

In the hands of the Myburgh family since 1756. Today, Hannes Myburgh runs the estate as the eighth generation – with respect for the heritage and a clear view ahead.

The most famous wine: Rubicon. A red wine that put Stellenbosch on the world map. Powerful, elegant, with potential for many years in the cellar. South Africa as it tastes.
