Maternigo Amarone delle Valpolicella Riserva GP DOCG Veneto 0.75L
Amarone from the heart of Valpolicella — and this one comes from a single vineyard: the Barila site on the Maternigo estate, whose name means "Mother's Land". Tedeschi, one of the most traditional families in the region, vinifies exclusively Corvina grapes here, which are dried in shallow crates after harvest until they are concentrated, raisin-like, and rich in sugar and extract.
In the glass, the Riserva shows deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose opens with dried cherry, plum, and a hint of cocoa, plus dark spices like clove and cinnamon. On the palate, it carries the fullness typical of Amarone: velvety, ripe tannins, a subtle, supporting acidity, and a long, warm finish with notes of dark chocolate and tobacco.
Best served at 16–18 °C. Classically with braised beef, game ragù, or aged Parmigiano Reggiano — or enjoyed on its own as an evening wine, giving it time to open up.
