Malecon Chocolate rum-based spirit
A rum liqueur that combines Caribbean craftsmanship with dark chocolate — for those who like to drink classic rum with an aromatic twist.
Malecon is a Panamanian rum producer known for its multi-stage aging process and meticulous barrel selection. The base of this liqueur is molasses rum, distilled in a column still and aged for up to six years in American ex-bourbon barrels. Only after this aging period is the natural flavoring with cocoa and chocolate added—not a synthetic flavoring, but an addition built upon an already mature rum.
The glass reveals notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, and roasted cocoa, underscored by typical bourbon barrel influences: caramel and a hint of coconut in the background. The finish is smooth and sweet, with a slight bitter note of dark chocolate.
Neat over ice as a digestif, briefly chilled as a dessert accompaniment to chocolate mousse, or as the base for a simple cocktail: with cold brew coffee and an ice cube.
