Lievland Rosé 1.5L

This rosé made from pure Mourvèdre comes in a magnum bottle (1.5 l) and therefore belongs on the table where several people are sitting. It stands for a dry, fresh rosé style from the Western Cape.

Lievland is located in the Stellenbosch-Paarl environment of the South African Western Cape, a region with a Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers, cooling winds from the Atlantic, and plenty of sun. You know Mourvèdre primarily from Southern France, where it is at home in Bandol and the Rhône. As a rosé, the grape variety usually brings structure and a spicy side that many light rosé wines lack.

In the glass, you can expect aromas of strawberry, red currant, and watermelon, plus a delicate spice, as is typical for Mourvèdre. On the palate, it feels juicy and fresh, with lively acidity and a clear, dry finish.

Serve it well chilled at 8 to 10 °C. It pairs well with grilled food, salads with goat cheese, tapas and meze, or dishes from the braai. The large bottle is suitable for summer parties, garden dinners, and all occasions where the glass is refilled more often.

The Winery

Lievland

Lievland Vineyards is located on the western slopes of the Simonsberg hill between Stellenbosch and Paarl. Its name means "Loveland" in Afrikaans – and it's steeped in history. Founded in 1715, it is one of the oldest estates in the region.

The estate lay dormant for many years until MAN Family Wines acquired it in 2017 and revived it as a "beautiful sleeper." Today, winemaker Riaan Möller cultivates 60 hectares of vines. The philosophy: to cultivate classic grape varieties using traditional methods. The flagship wine is called Heart's Ease Syrah .

The manor house dates back to 1865. And those who see the labels featuring Cupid on a springbok will discover an animal love story: Two horses once adopted a baby springbok. A true piece of South African soul in a jar.
