Late Bottled Vintage
Churchill's Late Bottled Vintage is a port with depth and structure—dense, concentrated, yet surprisingly approachable. Ripe blackberry, plum jam, and a hint of dried herbs characterize the aroma, followed on the palate by warmth, a velvety texture, and a long, spicy finish.
Behind Churchill's is Johnny Graham, whose family ran the renowned port wine house WJ Graham for decades. When his father sold the house in the 1970s, Johnny remained true to port wine—he worked at Cockburn's and Taylor's before founding his own house with his brothers in 1981. It owes its name, Churchill's, to his wife. The grapes come from the Cima Corgo, the heart of the Douro, and are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and traditionally foot-crushed in lagares. Touriga Nacional forms the basis—a grape variety known for its deep color, tannins, and aging potential.
Best served slightly chilled at 16–18 °C . Classically paired with Stilton or strong Manchego, but also with chocolate desserts made with dark couverture. For those who need no occasion: a glass after a meal, neat.
