Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2024

Nebbiolo without the weight of a Barolo — that is the promise of the Carlin from Carlo Ghisolfi. Tre Pile comes from Bussia Soprana, one of the most renowned sites in the heart of the Barolo area. That Ghisolfi also vinifies a Langhe Nebbiolo here shows the other character of this grape variety: more accessible, fresher, without the years of tannin work that a classic Barolo demands.

In the glass, the wine glows ruby red with a slightly transparent rim — an indication of the deliberately lighter style. On the nose, fresh raspberry and rose petals, plus fine spice notes that are typical for Nebbiolo. On the palate, it shows a lively acidity, well-integrated tannins, and a fruit that does not appear overripe. Not a heavy wine, but a complex one.

It is best to drink it at 16 °C — with salumi, a mature Pecorino or Parmigiano, but it also cuts a fine figure with barbecue. Anyone who wants to get to know Nebbiolo without fighting their way through a young Barolo will find an honest entry into the grape variety here.
