Lagoalva Sauvignon Blanc

A Portuguese Sauvignon Blanc that shows what the Tejo-Ribatejo south of Lisbon is capable of: ripe fruitiness, straightforward freshness, and uncomplicated drinkability.

Quinta da Lagoalva is located in the heart of the Tagus wine region, one of Portugal's oldest wine regions. The winery has been working with international and indigenous grape varieties for decades and is among those that have helped shape the region's transformation – away from mass-produced wine and towards cleanly vinified wines with a strong sense of place.

In the glass, the wine shines a clear, bright yellow. The nose offers passion fruit, a hint of gooseberry, and a touch of lemongrass – typical of Sauvignon Blanc from warmer climates, where the grape variety tends more towards tropical fruit than the sharp herbal notes of the Loire. On the palate, the wine remains fresh, the acidity is present without being harsh, and the finish is short and clean.

Ready to drink now, best served at 8–10 °C. Pairs well with garlic prawns, grilled sea bass, a light goat cheese, or mussels in white wine. It also works well on its own as an aperitif – especially on warm evenings.

Quinta da Lagoalva

On the southern bank of the Tagus River, not far from the Portuguese town of Alpiarça, lies Quinta da Lagoalva – a winery with a history dating back to the 19th century. As early as 1888, they proudly presented 600 barrels of wine at the Portuguese Industrial Exhibition. This spirit of tradition and passion continues to shape their wines today.

The landscape surrounding the Quinta is uniquely natural: wetlands, vast fields, and the tranquil river. All of this is reflected in the wines, which combine depth and elegance with authentic Portuguese character – from powerful red wines to the exquisite sparkling wines of the premium Dona Isabel Juliana line.
