La Narval Octopus pieces in American sauce

Cooked octopus pieces in a spicy onion and tomato sauce—that's the specialty behind the La Narval label, a Spanish canned goods brand specializing in Atlantic seafood. The tradition of pickling octopus in this way originates from Galicia, where "salsa americana" has been part of the tapas culture for generations.

The pieces are cooked to tender perfection without falling apart, and they absorb the rich tomato sauce beautifully. A savory onion sweetness, a slightly tangy tomato note, and a sea-salty finish define the flavor.

Serve straight from the can as a tapa—on toasted bread or with a squeeze of lemon. Wine pairing: 10–12 °C , ideally a dry Albariño from the Rías Baixas or a young Verdejo from Rueda.
