Kaapzicht Estate Suidooster Shiraz

The Suidooster Shiraz from Kaapzicht Estate is a powerful, dry red wine from the heart of Stellenbosch – named after the Suidooster wind, that famous Cape wind that cools the region's vineyards and ensures grapes full of tension.

Kaapzicht is located on the Bottelary Hills and has been managed for generations by the Steytler family, who cultivate Shiraz here on granite-rich soils with a view of False Bay. The proximity to the ocean and the cooling winds slow down the ripening process and give the grapes concentration while maintaining a lively freshness – a style for which the winery in Stellenbosch is known.

In the glass, the Suidooster reveals aromas of blackberry, black pepper, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, it is powerful and juicy, with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a spicy, savory finish that is reminiscent of the typical South African Shiraz style.

Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with grilled rack of lamb, spicy Braai, or strong hard cheese – a wine for hearty gatherings and convivial evenings.
