Kaapzicht Estate Steytler Vision

The Steytler Vision is the flagship cuvée from Kaapzicht Estate and shows just how powerful and complex South African red wine can be. At its heart is usually a blend of Pinotage, South Africa's own grape variety, with Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties – a style that promises structure and depth.

The winery is located at the foot of the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch and has been managed by the Steytler family for four generations. The location benefits from cooling winds from False Bay and old vines on granite-rich soils – conditions that favor concentrated, long-lived red wines. Maturation takes place traditionally in French oak, which gives the wine roasted notes and fine-grained tannins.

In the glass, you can expect dark berry fruits such as blackberry and mulberry, underpinned by spice notes, a little vanilla, and a hint of tobacco from the barrel aging. On the palate, the wine is juicy and dense, with ripe tannins and a long, spicy finish.

Serve it at 16–18 °C, ideally with grilled lamb, game dishes, or a mature hard cheese – a red wine for a convivial evening with hearty food.
