Inglenook Rubicon Rutherford AVA, Napa County 0.75L

The Rubicon is the flagship of Inglenook — a wine that embodies the history of the Napa Valley and at the same time shows what distinguishes Rutherford from other sites: that characteristic earthy spice that wine connoisseurs know as "Rutherford Dust".

Inglenook is one of the oldest wineries in California, founded in 1879 on the western edge of the Rutherford AVA. Since Francis Ford Coppola bought the winery back completely in 2011 and restored the historic name, the Rubicon has once again stood for what it was in the 1970s and 1980s: a wine with a clear claim to origin. Cabernet Franc plays a supporting role in the Rubicon and brings the typical elegance and herbal spice to the cuvée.

In the glass, cassis and dark blackberry appear, underscored by bay leaf, fresh herbs, and a hint of graphite. The palate is dense and structured, the tannins firm but with a silky texture — not a wine that makes noise, but one that has depth. The finish remains long, with a mineral note and subtle spice.

Served at 17–18 °C, the Rubicon pairs well with pan-seared saddle of lamb with a herb crust, entrecôte, or aged cheddar. Decanting is recommended — at least 45 minutes.
