Inglenook Rubicon Rutherfold AVA, Napa County 1.5L

The Rubicon is Inglenook's flagship: a dense, tautly structured red wine from Rutherford that fits particularly well at the table in the 1.5-liter magnum when several guests come together.

The winery is located in the heart of the Napa Valley and is one of the region's traditional names. The Rutherford AVA stands for Cabernet wines with ripe, grippy tannin. The cuvée consists of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. The details refer to the 2018 vintage.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep garnet violet. On the nose, mocha, tapenade, and cedar wood lie over cassis, baked plum, and dark berries. On the palate, it appears concentrated and taut, the tannin is ripe and grippy, the wood tone remains precisely integrated and supports the structure. The finish is long and spicy. The wine is produced dry.

Recommendation: Serve it at 16–18 °C and open the bottle in good time beforehand or decant it. It goes with braised beef cheeks, grilled entrecôte, or old mountain cheese.
