Ilico Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
The medium-heavy, loamy soils where the Montepulciano grapes for Ilico grow lie between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea at an altitude of approximately 260 meters in the province of Terano, Abruzzo. In the first days of October, when the harvest takes place, the grapes are immediately processed. The wine is aged for about 10 months in Slavonian oak barrels and then matures for another 3-4 months in the bottle. Ilico has a deep ruby red color with purple reflections. The nose reveals red fruit aromas and leaves a pleasant impression. On the palate, it is full-bodied, profound, rich, and rounded, yet harmonious, with a finish reminiscent of licorice.
