Feuerheerds Douro Reserva aged in Port barrels

A Douro red wine with an unusual character: twelve months of maturation in used port wine barrels leave their mark — subtle, but clearly noticeable.

Feuerheerds is one of the oldest trading houses on the Douro, originally founded as a port wine shipper. This heritage is literally in the wine: the casks in which this Reserva matures were previously used for port wine — a logical link between the classic fortified port and the house's dry red wine.

In the glass, it displays a burgundy red color with violet reflections. The nose offers aromas of cherry and plum, along with a warm undertone of fig and a hint of dark chocolate—the port cask influence lends the fruit a slightly sweet depth without weighing the wine down. On the palate, it is silky, with soft, ripe tannins and a fresh acidity that enlivens the finish.

Feuerheerds is one of the oldest Porti wine houses in existence – founded in 1815 by a German-Portuguese family deeply rooted in the Douro region. Today, this history lives on in the glass: powerful, complex, and with that quiet elegance that only true tradition can produce.

What sets Feuerheerds apart? A consistent approach. Whether a velvety Tawny, a profound Ruby, or a festive Vintage – here you can sense the respect for the vineyard and the slow maturation in old wooden casks. No rushing, no shortcuts. Just Port as it should be.
