Etna Rosso DOC Croceferro, Organic

Nerello Mascalese from Mount Etna is the Sicilian counterpart to Pinot Noir: thin-skinned, transparent in the glass, with a finesse one does not necessarily expect on a volcanic island. The Croceferro from Generazione Alessandro shows exactly this character — not a heavy Southern wine, but a precise, lively red wine from one of Italy's most exciting sites.

The vines grow on the high altitudes of Mount Etna, where volcanic ash soil, cool nights, and the sea air of the Mediterranean ensure natural freshness and minerality. Generazione Alessandro farms the vineyards organically — the terroir is the focus, not the cellar.

In the glass, it shows a clear ruby red with light edges. On the nose, red cherries, rosehip, and a slight hint of volcanic rock. On the palate, lively acidity, a powerful but fine-grained tannin structure, and a long, spicy finish. Not a wine that overwhelms with fruit — rather one that convinces with tension.

Pairs with aged sheep's cheese, roasted beef, game, or Sicilian pasta with ragù. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
