El Abuelo de Piqueras Crianza

El Abuelo de Piqueras Crianza
A red wine from the heart of Castile, which literally bears its name: El Abuelo — the grandfather — represents the heritage and roots of the Piqueras house.
Bodegas Piqueras is located in Almansa, one of Spain's oldest wine regions, on the border between Castile-La Mancha and the Levante. The winery works with indigenous and classic Iberian grape varieties that can withstand the extreme temperature fluctuations at altitudes of over 700 meters—the basis for wines with structure and depth.
In the glass, the Crianza displays dark blackberry and plum, underpinned by notes of dried herbs—thyme, a hint of lavender—as well as a touch of cedar and vanilla from barrel aging. The tannins are present but well-integrated, and the acidity keeps the wine lively without being harsh. The finish is medium-long with a subtly spicy and smoky aftertaste.
