Domaine Gaudry Pouilly-Fumé AOC

Pouilly-Fumé is synonymous with Sauvignon Blanc in its mineral, cool form—not a tropical fruit salad, but depth and tension. The Gaudry delivers exactly that.

Domaine Nicolas Gaudry is located in the heart of the Loire Valley, in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation—one of the classic homelands of Sauvignon Blanc in France. The soils alternate between Kimmeridge limestone and flint (silex), which gives the appellation its name: fumé , the smoke.

In the glass, it displays a bright golden yellow. The nose opens with citrus peel, white peach, and a hint of gooseberry, underpinned by the characteristic flinty note of the appellation. On the palate, it is dense and round, with invigorating acidity that carries the wine without being sharp. The finish is long and salty-mineral—a sign of the limestone soils.

Serving suggestion: Serve at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with Loire goat cheese (Crottin de Chavignol is a classic pairing), grilled turbot, asparagus dishes with hollandaise sauce, or light pasta dishes with herbs and seafood. Also makes a convincing aperitif with some olives and bread – a perfect start to the evening.

Domaine Nicolas Gaudry

Domaine Nicolas Gaudry lies in the heart of the Nièvre, where the Loire flows through gentle hills and Sauvignon Blanc finds perhaps its purest expression: Pouilly-Fumé .

Nicolas Gaudry and his wife Sandy have been running the winery since 2003 – as the sixth generation of a true winemaking family. On 31 hectares , spread across four villages around Tracy-sur-Loire, they produce wines that reflect the entire terroir of this special appellation.

The result: aromatically precise, vibrant white wines with character – from the classic Pouilly-Fumé to the rarer Pouilly-sur-Loire made from the Chasselas grape.
