d'Arenberg d'Arenberg The Stump Jump
The Stump Jump from d'Arenberg is an approachable red wine from McLaren Vale in southern Australia – with a depth of aroma rarely found at this price level.
The family-run d'Arenberg winery was founded in 1912 and is now one of the most renowned estates in McLaren Vale. Chester Osborn, now in the fourth generation, is known for his consistently artisanal approach: hand-harvesting, open fermentation tanks, and extended skin contact. Stump Jump is the winery's entry-level wine, typically a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvèdre.
On the nose, blueberry, blackberry, and plum, with a spicy undertone of white pepper, lavender, and a hint of iodine – typical for wines from this coastal region. Medium-bodied on the palate, soft tannins, and a subtle oak note on the finish. Not a heavy Australian wine, but a well-structured everyday wine with genuine character.
