The Dalwhinnie 15 Years is a classic Highland Single Malt from one of Scotland's highest and coldest distilleries – at 326 meters above sea level in the Cairngorms National Park.
The Dalwhinnie Distillery has been working with the soft water of the Allt an t-Sluic spring since 1898 and relies on exceptionally long maturation in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The harsh climate slows down the maturation process and shapes the distillery's distinctive style.
In the glass, the 15-year-old reveals aromas of heather honey, ripe pears, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is soft and medium-bodied, with light malt, gentle peat in the background, and a long, warm finish with caramel and dry heather.
Neat at room temperature, it unfolds its full depth – a drop of still water further enhances the sweeter notes. A harmonious accompaniment to desserts like crème brûlée or a mature cheddar, and also simply a relaxing dram in the evening after a long day.

Pure or with water – how do I best drink it?
Pure at room temperature, it unfolds its full depth. A single drop of still water additionally opens up the sweeter notes. Ice is not recommended – it dampens the aromatics.
What does the Dalwhinnie 15 pair with as an accompaniment?
The sweetness of the whisky harmonizes well with crème brûlée or a mature cheddar. It works just as well as a digestif after a meal – also a harmonious choice with a cigar.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Room temperature – i.e., about 18–20 °C. Served too cold, the soft honey and caramel notes that define the character of this malt close up.
How do I best store an opened bottle?
Store upright, cool, and protected from light. With a fill level below one-third, prompt enjoyment is recommended – more air in the bottle neck noticeably changes the aromatics over weeks.
The Distillery
Highland whisky with history. No other distillery is allowed to use the water from Lochan an Doire Uaine: pure snowmelt and rainwater high in the Drumochter Hills. This gives this Scotch its unique balance – malt-sweet, clean, with soft, smoky warmth. Chilled, it unfolds full honey sweetness.
Founded in 1897 as Strathspey, the distillery was soon called Dalwhinnie – "Plain of Meetings" in Gaelic, at the intersection of old roads between two mountain ranges. A beautiful but also harsh location: a fire in 1934, four years of closure, reconstruction during bitterly cold winters and snowdrifts.
