Conceito Unico Red

Dark-fruited, structured and with real aging potential: The Conceito Unico Red shows what the Douro can do beyond the big names.

The Conceito winery is located in Douro Superior, the easternmost and hottest part of the Douro Valley. The old vines on schist soils – typically Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz – yield concentrated, yet not overly heavy, fruit. The name Conceito reflects a clear stylistic approach: precision over quantity, terroir over oak dominance.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby ​​red. The nose offers blackberry compote, dried blueberry, and dry scrub – the typical garrigue profile of the upper Douro. A subtle spice note (black pepper, clove) and a barely perceptible oak influence remain firmly in the background, complementing the fruit. On the palate, it is firmly structured: the tannins are present but fine-grained, and the acidity carries the wine without being harsh. A long, spicy finish.

Drinkable now, but with bottle aging until 2030+ it gains depth and smoothness. Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Pairs well with herb-crusted lamb loin, grilled Ibérico pork, or aged Manchego cheese.
