Château Pontet-Canet AOC Pauillac 5° Cru Classé

Château Pontet-Canet offers a powerful, profound Pauillac that combines the classic elegance of Bordeaux with remarkable intensity. This 5th Growth is a long-distance runner that only reveals its true greatness after several years of bottle aging.

Since the turn of the millennium, the Tesseron family winery has undergone a remarkable transformation. Working with consultant Michel Comme, they prioritize intuition over technical perfection. Comme vinifies by feel and eschews strict temperature controls. The high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and aging in new oak significantly shape the style of this wine.

In the glass, the typical Pauillac characteristics are evident: dense aromas of cassis, dark blackberry, and cedar mingle with notes of graphite. On the palate, it presents itself as enormously powerful with a dense, ripe tannin structure and a firm framework. The finish is long and carried by dark fruit.

Due to its tannin structure, this wine needs time to reveal its potential. If opened young, extensive decanting is recommended. It is an excellent accompaniment to rosemary-crusted lamb, a classic roast beef, or aged hard cheeses. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C.

Château Pontet-Canet

At Pontet-Canet, they've been forging new paths since the 1990s to get as close to nature as possible. Over time, one thing became clear: progress in winemaking can only come from observation and experimentation with the vine. The winemaker simply has to know how to observe the vine to understand its needs. Since 2000, Pontet-Canet has been the first of the top Bordeaux estates to convert to biodynamic farming and has been internationally certified since 2006, though this isn't something they make a big deal of. The wines are meant to speak for themselves.
