Chateau Fontenelles is located in the center of the picturesque Périgord region, a large plateau in the southwest not far from Thénac.
Due to the very large arsenal of old vines aged 50 years and older, wines of higher quality than average can be vinified. The cuvée of Les Fontenelles consists of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. This combination of finesse and soft velvetiness from the Merlot and the power and structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon show an amazing result for a more than reasonable price.

The Château
Bergerac has had its own appellation since 1936. The same grape varieties as in the Bordeaux region are at home here, occasionally supplemented by a few indigenous grape varieties. The similarity to Bordeaux white wines is almost logical to mention, although many Bergerac wines present themselves with finesse and depth as somewhat more elegant than their big brother on the Gironde.
However, there are chateaux in Bergerac that can produce such high quality that many Bordeaux wines cannot keep up, especially in terms of price. You can find such an example at Chateau les Fontelles.
