Château Grange Neuve "La Fleur des Ormes" Pomerol

“La Fleur des Ormes” is the second wine of Château Grange Neuve — more approachable in style, but clearly of origin: Pomerol, the smallest and densest wine-growing region of Bordeaux, where Merlot develops its full warmth on loamy-sandy soil with a stony subsoil.

Château Grange Neuve is a small family-run winery located on the characteristic Pomerol plateau. The focus is on a few hectares that bear the typical hallmarks of the appellation — rich fruit, soft structure, and the unmistakable weight of the heavy clay soil.

In the glass, aromas of dark plum, blackberry, and a hint of tobacco are revealed. The texture is velvety and rounded, as mature Merlot from this vineyard develops. The tannins are supple, the finish warm and lingering—without the angularity that younger Bordeaux wines sometimes exhibit. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.

It pairs well with braised beef cheek, leg of lamb with rosemary, or hearty raclette. For those who want to discover Pomerol without a Petrus budget, this offers an honest introduction to the appellation.
