Château de la Chesnaie Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine sur Lie

The approximately ten hectares of vines of the Château de la Chesnaie grow on warm loam and clay soils, which support an early ripening of the grapes.

Fine and fruity, the Château de la Chesnaie is best enjoyed in its youth, although it also possesses enough potential for a few years of maturation storage.

Color: light straw yellow with silvery reflections Nose: very fresh, clearly fruit-accented bouquet of white peach, nectarines, citrus fruits, also slightly exotic notes (pineapple, melon, lychee) and fine hints of white flowers (honeysuckle) before delicate roasted aromas (freshly toasted white bread) and a touch of sea air Taste: crystal clear on the palate with animating, crisp fresh acidity, which at the same time gives the wine lightness, power, and liveliness, very beautiful length in the finish with a tart-fruity aftertaste of grapefruit and lemon makes you immediately want more!

The delivered wine was flawless, as expected and well packed: Thanks...!

Unfortunately, the goods were delivered to the neighbor on the ground floor, even though we were at home (on the 5th floor with an elevator...!). As a result, we only received the goods a week later. The wine shop/seller should perhaps p...

Would not buy again, taste-wise meaningless/flat/uninteresting and too expensive for that

Something like that would not be dared to be offered as Muscadet sur Lie in France.

The Domaine

Chéreau Carré

The healthy, aromatically ripe Muscadet grapes are brought immediately to the winery, gently pressed here in pneumatic presses, then the musts are gently pre-clarified by cold sedimentation and traditionally fermented over about two to three weeks.

According to AOC regulations, the wine remains on the fine lees after fermentation for the entire maturation period until bottling.

The traditional bâtonnage, the regular stirring of the fine lees, gives the fruit even more expression and the wine as a whole an even more elegant fullness and balance.

After completion of the (at least four-month) maturation, the Muscadet is bottled in the spring of the following year at Château de la Chesnaie directly from the lees and released for sale.
