Chateau Coustarelle Cahors Cuvee Caroline

The Cuvée Caroline from Château Coustarelle is Caroline Cassot's personal project: a Cahors red wine that combines the power of the appellation with accessibility.

Cahors is considered the home of Malbec – here the grape variety is traditionally called Côt and grows on limestone-clay soils high above the Lot Valley. Château Coustarelle is one of the reliable addresses of the appellation. The grapes for the Cuvée Caroline go through different ripening stages – an approach that brings depth and structure to the wine.

In the glass, a deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, dark plum, blackberry, and a hint of clove. On the palate, ripe black cherry fruit joins with a spicy pepper note; the tannins are present but supple – not a blockbuster, but a well-balanced all-rounder from the southwest of France.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb, entrecôte with herb butter, or a hearty Tomme cheese.
