Chateau Coustarelle Cahors Cuvee Prestige

Cahors represents Malbec in its darkest, most serious form — and this Cuvée Prestige shows why the appellation is unjustly overshadowed by Mendoza.

Château Coustarelle lies in the heart of the Lot Valley, where the grape variety has been native for centuries, long before its triumphant spread across Argentina. The Prestige blend combines 90% Malbec with 10% Tannat —a combination that perfectly balances richness and structure. Aging in oak barrels rounds out the profile without overpowering it.

In the glass, the wine shines a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by blackcurrant and blackberry , accompanied by a hint of plum and subtle toasty aromas from the barrel aging—cedarwood, a touch of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with ripe but present tannins that gain additional grip from the tannin content. The finish is long and silky , with lingering dark fruit flavors.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window now until approx. 2028. Pairs well with entrecôte, cassoulet, leg of lamb with rosemary or mature Comté cheese.
