Chassagne-Montrachet Embazées AC Premier Cru 0.75L

A Premier Cru from Chassagne-Montrachet that shows why the southern Côte de Beaune is one of the most fascinating white wine sites in Burgundy: The Embazées parcel lies on the slope near the border to Santenay, on complex soils of limestone marl with yellow to red clay components — a subsoil that gives the Chardonnay structure and depth.

Joseph Drouhin is one of the most traditional négociants of the Côte de Beaune. The house from Beaune has been working with sites throughout the Côte d'Or since 1880 and is known for careful vinification that brings the character of the respective site to the fore.

In the glass, the Embazées shows ripe yellow pear and white flowers, underneath a fine minerality reminiscent of chalk and damp stone. The acidity structure is precise, the body full-bodied without heaviness, the finish long and marked by a slight salinity.

Serve it at 12–13 °C with scallops with beurre blanc, with a lobster bisque, or with mature Comté. It also unfolds its full potential with sweetbreads or poached turbot.
